Hey timebandit,

Glad you stopped by. As mentioned in another post staking a claim in NB is all digital. When I first picked up my prospector's license it was only $15 and included tags for 4 'claims'. Now it's as easy as logging in, selecting some land and paying a few bucks to secure it. As you are likely aware there are yearly requirements to maintain a claim. The requirements/expenditures increase each year, unless ownership changes hands at which time the requirement resets.

I like chasing down and researching some of the local folklore/historical texts. For instance the local papers they have digitized back into the 1800's. Fun to read of the Stanley Gold Rush and then go out looking, after checking what's staked or not staked online.

I stick mostly to Crowne land, which in this area is rather marshy at least where I have been to date. Irving has some great logging access roads around the province, some of which can turn into quite a maze of intertwining roads. GPS here I come..

It's all good fun.. and good exercise.
